Messier Award

At our last meeting our president, David Adalian, suggested that our club members take advantage of the different observational awards that the Astronomical League provides.  These awards are designed to improve ones observational skills. I am proposing that our club work together on the AL’s Messier Award. This will also tie-in nicely with Dan Demmers’ recommendation for the “Night Sky Tracker“. One of the things that each member needs to do, to qualify for the Merrier Award, is to record their observation data for each Merrier object. The Tracker will be a great help in recording your data. Here is the link for the Messier Award. http://astroleague.org/al/obsclubs/messier/mess.html. I think that we should plan on making this a year-long project.

Austin and I are looking forward to it. I am also thinking of using skymaps as a guide for which Messiers are visible when. Kinda makes it a year long project. Not sure how thats gonna roll though. Sounds like fun just the same.
